Jordan Vauvert Après avoir écouté Wurdah Ïtah, je comprends pourquoi cet album devait d'abord servir de bande-originale pour le film Tristan et Yseult : il n'est peut-être pas médiéval en soi mais il est magique. Wurdah Ïtah est épuré à l'extrême — six instruments et trois voix assurés par quatre personnes au total — mais tout est tellement foisonnant (la basse sonne comme un trombone parfois !) que la musique de chambre devient symphonie ; douze mouvements mais une fluidité exemplaire. Magique, je vous dis ! Favorite track: C'est La Vie Qui Les A Menés Là.

WURDAH ITAH, enregistré en Avril 1974, un mois à peine avant les sessions de KOHNTARKOSZ, constitue le second mouvement de THEUSZ HAMTAAHK, fresque musicale en trois mouvements dont MEKANIK DESTRUKTIW KOMMANDOH, enregistré un an plus tôt par MAGMA, représente le troisième volet. Exécuté par le noyau central du MAGMA de cette époque, à savoir Christian VANDER (piano, batterie, chant), Jannick TOP (basse), Klaus BLASQUIZ (chant, percussions) et Stella VANDER (chant), WURDAH ITAH présente une musique épurée à l'extrême. Contrastant avec le faste et la densité orchestrale de M.D.K, elle n'en dégage pas moins une puissance rythmique et un lyrisme vocal surprenants, marqués sans conteste du sceau de la griffe magmaïenne.

Pour la première fois inclus en bonus à cet album, Wurdah Itah Prima Matéria. La maquette originale utilisée pour la bande originale du film Tristan Et Iseult d'Yvan LAGRANGE.
Malgré les nombreuses imperfections de cette maquette, elle reste un document essentiel pour comprendre la genèse de Wurdah Itah et ressentir la frénésie qui nous habitait.
