Amazing seminal live versions of two cult classics. Amazing to have it remastered both as a historical record and as a badass alternative versions.

You may think you know them already, but the embryonic live versions of these two classic Magma tracks might totally challenge that perception. The more stately tempo of Theusz Hamtaahk better accentuates its uncanny sense of power and dread, and to these ears the much looser space-jazz arrangement of Köhntarkösz easily eclipses its more conservative studio counterpart. Essential listening.

In 1970 an explosive compound of a cavernous bass and a hammering beat erupted from our record players, as an otherworldly
voice chanted in a mysterious language. Thus began a first, double album, simply entitled Magma. Its strangeness and creative force meant that Magma’s landmark debut immediately guaranteed them a place in music history....more

This might be the least folky of the Wobbler releases and I wasn't sure about it at all.
After a few listens however I'm loving the inventiveness and the endless melodies, all driven along by Kristian Hultgren's wonderful percussive bass. PartTimeZombie

all of it good: the whimsy, the drama, the wild, the cosmic; deftly dancing the line between order and chaos, between the sublime and the vile, between the fathomable and the ineffable. puts the listener in a liminal limbo you don't get to be in (and still enjoy!) often. Tim Patterson
